These new offices for the United Nations Development Corporation occupy a long and narrow ground-floor space, with windows only at one end. To compensate for the scarce natural light, the design takes advantage of a double-height gallery extending from the entry to a rear mezzanine. Hanging linear uplights run the length of the gallery and across it. The executive offices, arranged off the gallery, borrow its light through a long band of glass, set high for privacy. The gallery’s ceiling is curved to direct light toward the work areas. A mezzanine conference room overlooks the length of the gallery through floor-to-ceiling glass.
