The owner of this striking 1867 Soho building by Jardine and Jardine received a violation from the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission for erecting a standard aluminum entrance. PB+A designed a new storefront that reinterprets in wood the cast iron detailing of an 1883 Soho building by noted New York architect Henry Fernbach. It was originally painted light gray to complement the building’s marble façade. The design earned a Certificate of Appropriateness from the LPC.
