Show text >>Gallery 532Gallery 532, specializing in furniture and lamps of the American Arts and Crafts movement, was among the vanguard of upscale stores that opened on Amsterdam Avenue in the early 1990’s. Moving into a former bakery, the gallery expanded its sales floor to the basement with a new stair that displays furnishings on its ledges and landings. The bakery’s blue enameled steel exterior was replaced by a storefront that is integral to the building’s limestone base. The brass exterior signage, also designed by PB+A, engages the rhythm of the show windows. The interior finishes and colors complement the rich oak furniture.
