GALLERY 532
Gallery 532, specializing in furniture and lamps of the American Arts and Crafts movement, was among the vanguard of upscale stores that opened on Amsterdam Avenue in the early 1990’s. Our design expanded the gallery’s sales floor to the basement with a new stair that displays furnishings on its ledges and landings. It included a new storefront that is integral to the building’s limestone base and exterior brass signage that engages the rhythm of the show windows. The interior finishes and colors complement the rich oak Arts and Crafts furniture.
The New York Times wrote that “…the renovated stretch of Amsterdam Avenue reaches its zenith … with Gallery 532.” (Photos © Wade Zimmerman)
